In therapy with adults, couples, families and teens, we collaborate using relational-dynamic (understanding one self as a whole person) and cognitive therapies (focused on specific issues) to address personal, interpersonal and professional challenges. Coping with the wide range of life stressors in our complex world is a focus of therapy.
Consultations with parents regarding their teens emotional, social and academic wellbeing are part of my practice. In my work with couples and families, hearing the issues first helps clients work toward understanding each other with new perspectives.
I work with a diverse clientele facing an array of personal, interpersonal and academic/professional issues including: anxiety and depression along with related emotional challenges, relationship struggles, career stressors, problematic family dynamics, marriage and divorce, executive functioning, and medical or reproductive issues. Through empathic therapy, collaborative problem solving, developing self-compassion, people are able to find a greater sense of personal strength and emotional wellbeing. I work with clients to help equip them with the tools to better cope with stress as well as improve their problem solving skills. Clients are able to apply these new skills to work, school, relationships and their personal sense of self.
Group and organizational consulting is an important part of my professional activity. I am a Fellow of the A.K.Rice Institute for the Study of Social Systems and former president of the NY Center of the institute. Directing and consulting at experiential conferences and programs is work that helps me stay connected with questions around diversity, organizational systems, leadership, authority, membership. In addition, as a member of the Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society (EGPS) I lead and participate in workshops at their annual conference. Groups can help individuals learn about our own experience in social systems.
